Dr. John Cairns is a graduate of Naperville Central High School. He continued his studies at Augustana College, where he received a Bachelors of Arts in Biology. Most recently, he studied at Southern Illinois University’s School of Dental Medicine, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine degree.
While at SIU/SDM, Dr. Cairns received the AAID Certificate of Recognition for outstanding achievement, both academically and clinically, in implant dentistry. He also received the AAP Dental Student Award in recognition of outstanding achievement in periodontics.
Dr. Cairns entered the field of dentistry because it is an amazing integration of science and art, coming together to make true changes in patients’ lives. In dentistry, patients can see the results they want quickly. If someone is in pain, a dental team can often relieve it on their first visit. Simple esthetic concerns can be corrected in one or two appointments. Patients really appreciate the quick results, and Dr. Cairns finds patient satisfaction very rewarding.
His patients often compliment him on how approachable he is and his willingness to discuss the diagnosis, treatment plan, and answer general questions about their teeth and health. He makes conversations easy to understand and clearly explains what treatment is being recommended and why.
Dr. Cairns lives in Naperville, Illinois, where he was born and raised. His parents and brother also continue to reside in Naperville. In his spare time, you can find Dr. Cairns out for a run.
